Go Out in The Yards

Boilermaker Shops

Retail and dining options will light up every corner in The Yards, starting with the historic Boilermaker Shops at the corner of Tingey and 4th streets. Everything from ship boilers to torpedo tubes were once manufactured in this former industrial building. The heavy industrial heritage is ever present; however, now you’ll find a growing array of great places to savor as well. The Boilermaker Shops will be the location for Bluejacket Brew PubBuzz Bakery, Willie's Brew & 'Que, Wells Dry Cleaner and more to come. Opening first quarter of 2013.

Opening in summer 2013 will be the Lumber Shed, the adaptive reuse of another historic, former Navy Yard building which is being transformed into a glass pavilion with restaurants on the ground floor and office space on the second level. Multiple sit-down restaurants are planned for the Lumber Shed, all with expansive glass as well as indoor/outdoor seating to take advantage of the Lumber Shed's scenic park and waterfront views. Osteria Morini will be joined by four more restaurants on the first floor of the Lumber Shed, all with great views of Yards Park surrounding it as well as the waterfront.

In the nearby Twelve12 complex at 4th and M Sts SE, a full-service Harris Teeter grocery store (opening mid-2014) will provide the ultimate in good taste and convenience, proving to be an essential and celebrated addition to the neighborhood. In addition, Vida Fitness will be located at Twelve12 along with Bang Salon, Aura Spa and the Penthouse Pool Club and Lounge.

Yards residents and visitors alike will enjoy the convenience of never having to worry about where, when or how to pick up the little things.

The Yards is an ideal location for smart retailers and restaurateurs to set up shop. The surrounding residential and commercial neighborhood is designed to create a steady influx of foot traffic.
